I just came back from Whole Foods where I purchase a "FRESH" turkey for 3 or 4 times what I would have paid for a frozen turkey at any grocery store. The turkey is frozen solid, I mean solid not a little soft but solid.

I spoke with the meat manager and he said it was supposed to be a "little frozen" because of the way Whole Foods keeps them. I then spoke with Dennis the store manager and he said pretty much the same thing. He offered me a refund if I would spend the $5.00 in gas and take my time to return it. I have another idea.

Why should I have to pay $50.00 for a frozen turkey. The store advertising doesn't say they are a "little bit frozen", it states THEY SAY FRESH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I expect FRESH.

I will never spend another dollar in any Whole Food Markets again. Seems the only way to fight a big corporation is to NOT spend my money in their stores. If everyone would do that maybe they would stop this false advertising.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $50.

Preferred solution: DON'T SHOP THERE.

Whole Foods Market Cons: Frozen turkey charged for fresh.

Location: Del Mar, California

Mine was frozen solid too. I got the same ***.

I agree - a fresh turkey cannot be frozen or it is a frozen turkey. No two ways about it.

Working in the meat department at a different supermarket, I know for a fact that these so called "fresh" turkeys are usually shipped right along side frozen ones and are kept at the same temperature. In other words, they come to us frozen.

It's likely the same just about everywhere.

Even if we let them thaw before selling them to create the illusion that you're getting a fresh turkey instead of a frozen one, it doesn't change the fact that you typically pay more for a turkey labeled "fresh" versus frozen and are still getting frozen birds. The only way to get a guaranteed fresh turkey is go to an independent butcher shop or farmers market that sells locally sourced turkeys.

Same here. They promised a fresh turkey but it was frozen.

I had to defrost in cold water this morning.

Had I known it would be frozen, I would have picked it up sooner and defrosted on the fridge. They should be sued for false advertising.
